Water Utility Construction Crew Member

Job description

Municipal Operations & Consulting is seeking laborers to work on an assigned crew to efficiently work on bid-jobs and district repairs.

Responsibilities

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Dig Trenches
• Fix and install pipes
• Repair water/sewer lines
• Install water/sewer taps into lines
• Work diligently on deadline jobs
• Perform related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
For indefinite periods of time:
• Exposure to toxic waste, chemical, dust/mites, fume/odor, radiation, explosive, electrical, and mechanical hazards;
• Working in trenches;
• Exposure to extreme cold, heat, temperature swings, noise, and constant noise;
• Twisting body;
• Standing;
• Squatting;
• Seeing;
• Pushing, pulling, lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds;
• Kneeling;
• Reaching above shoulder level;
• Using both hands for simple and firm grasping and manipulations;
• Clarity of hearing;

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Able to:
• Exhibit basic navigation skills of the city of Houston and surrounding areas;
• Operate heavy equipment (not required);
• Use hand tools (Shovel, Rachets, Screwdrivers, Pickaxes, axes, ETC….);
• Self-motivated;
• Determination

Training and Experience
Previous Construction Crew Experience Required

Licenses & Certifications
• Must have valid Texas Driver’s License.

Pay Rate
• $12-$14 per hour, depending on experience
