MUD taxes
What are MUD taxes?
MUD taxes are used to fund the construction, operation, and maintenance of these utilities and services such as:
- Water supply
- Sewer services
- Stormwater drainage
- Wastewater treatment
- Solid waste collection
MUD taxes can vary significantly depending on the district’s needs, the infrastructure it must build, and the cost of maintaining those services. Property owners in a MUD district typically pay these taxes annually, and they may be required to pay off bonds issued by the MUD for infrastructure development. The amount of tax is generally based on the assessed value of the property within the district, and it is in addition to regular local property taxes (e.g., county or city taxes).
