Boil water notices

A boil water notice is a public statement advising customers to boil their tap water before using it, typically in response to an event that has (or could have) introduced contaminants into the water distribution system.

When your address is under a boil water notice, a door tag will be placed on your front door notifying you about the actions to take.

The boil water notice will remain active until tests verify the water is safe. Tests typically take 48 hours. In the meantime, any tap water used for drinking or in anything that humans and animals ingest, should be vigorously boiled for at least one full minute. This means that tap water should not be used for drinking, cooking, or ice-making. Click here for more information about what actions the CDC recommends taking during a boil water advisory.

Once the public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water and has provided TCEQ with laboratory results, another door tag will be delivered to alert you that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use.
