The purpose of a submeter is to determine the specific water consumption for your unit, allowing for more accurate allocation of water usage.
Responsibilities:
- MOC is responsible for the main water meter at a property.
- The landlord or owner and/or tenant are responsible for any submeter(s) at a property, including installation, monitoring, managing and reporting any usage to the property owner/landlord.
To further explain:
- The landlord/owner will ultimately be responsible for the water bill for the entire strip center.
- The submeter will allow the landlord to fairly bill each tenant for their share of water usage.
- It will be the responsibility of the tenant or landlord to monitor the submeter readings and manage internal billing based on consumption.
Please note that the submeter must be installed by a licensed private plumber, as this is outside of our scope of work. Once installed, the account holder will be responsible for monitoring the readings and handling any billing based on the submeter’s usage data.
