– Backflow testing
Backflow testing is mandated by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to safeguard public health by preventing contaminants from entering drinking water systems through cross-connections.
Cross-connections occur when potable water lines are connected to non-potable sources, posing a risk of backflow—undesirable reversals of water flow that can introduce pollutants into the water supply. Regular testing of backflow prevention assemblies ensures they function correctly, thereby maintaining the integrity of the public water system.
